• TIPS FOR OPHTHALMOLOGICAL HEALTH

We have a few tips for keeping your eyes healthy and your vision sharp:

For starters, get regular comprehensive eye exams. One of our experienced ophthalmologists can perform a comprehensive eye exam, examining your eyes for early signs of problems. We are committed to helping you achieve your best possible vision, and regular eye exams allow us to prevent, diagnose and treat vision problems and eye conditions.

Eat antioxidant and nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables. The foods you eat go a long way in preventing eye problems like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Foods that support good vision and healthy eyes include:

    • Dark leafy greens, such as kale.
    • Nuts and beans, which are rich in protein.
    • Salmon, which is rich in omega-3 fatty acid.
    • Oranges, apples and virtually any kind of fresh fruit, which is rich in vitamins.
    • Wear sunglasses.

Ultraviolet rays are bad for your eyes. Recurring UV damage over time can increase your risk for cataracts, optic nerve damage and age-related macular degeneration. Purchase a pair that block out both UVA and UVB rays, preferably 99 to 100 percent.

Quit smoking or otherwise using tobacco.

Tobacco use is not only bad for your overall health, it can have consequences for your eyes specifically, including an increased risk of common eye diseases and vision problems.
