Does LASIK Hurt?
LASIK is generally a painless procedure.
You will be given anesthetic eye drops prior to your LASIK surgery, and you may feel slight pressure during the procedure. Most patients report no discomfort during LASIK surgery. Likewise, a majority of LASIK patients experience only minor, temporary discomfort or a scratchy sensation for a short time following surgery.
Typically, any residual discomfort after LASIK can be alleviated using over-the-counter painkillers. If you would like to learn more about LASIK, please see our Frequently Asked Questions and LASIK Facts page.
To learn if you’re a candidate for LASIK, please contact the ophthalmologists at Silverstein Eye Centers in the Kansas City area to schedule a consultation.
