LASIK and Cataract Surgery
LASIK and Cataract Surgery
LASIK eye surgery is the most effective way to permanently correct refractive errors such as hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia, and myopia. During LASIK vision correction surgery, one of our Kansas City eye doctors will gently reshape your cornea, allowing it to better focus light onto your retina. This procedure can correct even severe refractive errors, but it cannot prevent cataracts from occurring as you age.
If you have had LASIK vision correction surgery and develop cataracts, it is vital that you tell your eye doctor before your cataract surgery. Due to the altered shape of the cornea, additional measurements will need to be made to ensure the correct lens implant options are chosen.
If you have developed cataracts, please call 816-358-3600 today to schedule an initial consultation with one of the experienced Kansas City doctors at Silverstein Eye Centers.
Cataract Surgery After LASIK
If our eye doctors are aware of a previous LASIK vision correction surgery, we can take steps to ensure successful cataract treatment. After your cataract has been removed, we will perform tests to measure the lens power needed for optimal vision following your treatment. The measurements from these tests along with information from your LASIK procedure will allow us to calculate the exact lens strength needed for your eyes, an important step in helping you avoid multiple procedures.
It is best if you bring all available information about your visual and medical history to your initial consultation. This will allow us to customize your treatment options and make sure we are giving you the best service possible.
If you live in or around the Kansas City or Lee’s Summit areas of Missouri and would like to learn more about LASIK or cataract surgery, please contact Silverstein Eye Centers today to schedule an initial consultation with one of our vision correction surgeons.
