Many patients experience dry eyes and some feel minor discomfort in and around the eyes for a day or two following LASIK surgery. Prescription eye drops will help keep your eyes moist and prevent inflammation; your Kansas City eye doctor may also recommend an over-the-counter painkiller to control lingering discomfort.
Likewise, some patients may experience blurry or hazy vision and sensitivity to light for 24 to 48 hours after undergoing LASIK. A few patients may see halos, glares or “starbursts” around objects as they heal.
While most side-effects resolve themselves during the healing process, you should alert your eye doctor if any persist. The Kansas City eye doctors at Silverstein Eye Centers are available to answer your questions about LASIK, and they will monitor your progress as you recover to ensure that any complications are addressed.
